Care
Being a college student means making responsible, well-informed choices about your own health. H.E.L.P. can assist in answering any specific questions you may have, but here are some tips that everyone can use.
- Don't let cold and flu symptoms go untreated. Take only the recommended amounts of over-the-counter medications, and see a health care professional if the symptoms persist for more than 3 days.
- Don't take Tylenol or acetaminophen containing products after consuming alcohol. It could result in severe liver damage. Instead, take aspirin or ibuprofen with food.
- Keep in mind the possible negative side effects of caffeine pills, sleeping aids, and weight loss products.
- Chose a multi-vitamin that suits you and take one everyday. Females need at least 1000 mg calcium and 18 mg iron (or 33 mg for vegetarians). Males need 800 mg calcium.
